Welcome, Melody Clark
Tell us about yourself.
Hello, my name is Melody Clark. I am excited about teaching at Sussex Christian. I am a graduate of Concordia University and Northeastern Bible College. I began my teaching career with a kindergarten after-school program and homeschooling my son. I then taught second grade for 24 years at Ringwood Christian School. I am married with a grown son and wonderful daughter-in-law.
Tell us the story about how God brought you to work at SCS.
When Ringwood Christian School closed in 2019, I was looking for where the Lord wanted me to go. He led me to substitute teach in a couple of schools, one being Sussex Christian. I looked forward to every opportunity I had to substitute at SCS. Now I am thrilled to be a part of SCS as a teacher.
What is your favorite part about teaching?
My favorite part about teaching is working with the children and having the opportunity to share the Lord with them. I would often tell my students that I loved teaching Bible and incorporating God’s Word into all my teaching because of the eternal consequences of knowing Him. This became even more evident to me as I substituted in another school where I did not have this freedom.
Another favorite is seeing the “lightbulb” go on when a student grasps a concept. I saw it with my son when he learned to read and many times since in various areas.
What do you look forward to teaching as you begin your career at SCS?
I am looking forward to teaching music. Music has always been a part of my life. Whether it is singing in the choir at church, working with chapel services, school musicals, or VBS, music has always been an important part of my praise to the Lord.
Why Sussex Christian School?
Sussex Christian School feels like home. I will be able to work with children, encouraging them and helping them to learn and grow. Most importantly, while I am teaching the skills and knowledge that need to be taught, I can freely share about the Lord. A total education centered in Christ is achievable at Sussex Christian.
