Welcome Emily Waters!

Emily Waters, Special Education Aide

When the pandemic sent Emily Waters and her family into quarantine in 2020, she learned something new about herself; she was an excellent- and passionate- teacher. She began homeschooling her two daughters and immediately fell in love with it.

“I didn’t know I loved teaching until last year, but now it’s all I want to do,” Mrs. Waters explained. Now, she uses her newfound passion and talent as a Learning Center paraprofessional at Sussex Christian School.

While both of her children have various learning challenges, she gained an understanding of how to cope with neurodivergence and curriculum adaptation. This quickly became one of her favorite aspects of teaching.

“I want kids to know that they are capable and clever and that I will do everything in my power to help them learn and grow,” Mrs. Waters explained.

Mrs. Waters still gets to see her daughters throughout the school day, who are now elementary students at SCS. Her husband, Robert Waters, is just down the hall, too, as our new Administrator!

So far, her experience at SCS has been a positive one. “All the kids are just spectacular,” she says. “Working with these sweet little souls is one of the most fulfilling jobs I’ve ever had!”

Mrs. Waters’s love for Christ bubbles over in her teaching methods. “Christian education is all about understanding the world, truth, goodness, and beauty from a Biblical worldview,” she explains. “In a time where truth is often subjective, it is imperative that we raise our kids in the real truth of God’s Word. Christian education prepares our children to go out as sheep among wolves, without throwing them into the den utterly defenceless.”

We are so thrilled to welcome you and your family to our community, Mrs. Waters!
