Welcome Aaron Delbury!

“I plan to engage my students with thought-provoking questions, challenging problems, and hands-on assignments,” says Aaron Delbury, our newest faculty member and middle school teacher at Sussex Christian School. “As much as possible I want to get them out of their seats and mentally prepared to apply what they learn to their lives.”
Since his freshman year of high school, Mr. Delbury knew he wanted to be an educator. His mathematics teacher not only taught well but, as he recalls, she “showed her students every day that she would selflessly do anything to help them.” Mr. Delbury hopes to bring that intentionality to his middle school students this year.
Mr. Delbury received his associate degree in mathematics from Sussex County Community College and his bachelor’s degree in secondary math education-- with a minor in Bible-- from Cairn University in 2019. Additionally, he studied the Bible for a full year at the Word of Life Bible Institute.
Studying in two Christian colleges, as well as student teaching in a Christian school in Uganda, has shaped Mr. Delbury’s perspective on Christian education.
“In all of these experiences, I have really grown in my understanding of Scripture and in my relationships with other believers,” he says. “I love doing life with the fellowship of believers that comes together in Christian education.”
As he continues teaching Bible, math, and science at SCS, Mr. Delbury is thrilled to use his understanding of scripture to walk alongside his students. “As 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, ‘So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.’ This is what Christian education is all about!” he explains. “Christian education is focused on making sure that everything we say and do (eating, drinking, communication, work, school, sports…) is all to bring glory to the name of the Lord.”
As the school year continues, Mr. Delbury is excited to build relationships with his students, their families, and his fellow teachers. If you catch him in the halls, be sure to introduce yourself and say hello! “I always love to meet new faces,” he says.
Welcome, Mr. Delbury, to the SCS community! We cannot wait to see how the Lord uses you to train the students at SCS.
